EIFL is co-organizing a workshop for librarians and regional and national Research and Education Network (REN) representatives that aims to develop a cohesive strategy for strengthening open access repositories in West and Central Africa.
This is the second workshop for Research and Education Network (REN) stakeholders in Africa. It builds on a successful workshop for librarians and regional and national REN representatives from 17 African countries that took place in Zanzibar in November 2018.
The focus of discussion at the West and Central Africa workshop will be how repositories can better engage with NREN services to break down institutional silos, add value to repositories, and support the growth of open science in the region. EIFL Open Access Programme Manager Iryna Kuchma will speak about networking and interoperability of repositories, and metadata guidelines.
The workshop takes place in conjunction with the WACREN (the West and Central African Research and Education Network) conference, and is co-organized with COAR (Confederation of Open Access Repositories) and the OpenAIRE project.
