EIFL in Armenia

EIFL has been working in Armenia since 1999. We supported the creation of Electronic Library Consortium of Armenia (ELCA), which was re-registered in 2019 under a new name -  the Digital Library Association of Armenia (DLAA), and through this partnership, libraries in Armenia are providing access to a wide range of scholarly e-resources. They also benefit from EIFL programmes on open access, copyright and innovation in public libraries.

EIFL agreements with publishers also allow authors in Armenia to publish in open access in hybrid or fully open access journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs).

EIFL has supported open access awareness raising and advocacy workshops that have resulted in the launch of open access journals, national and institutional repositories, and the development and adoption of national and institutional open access policies. We have also advocated for amendments to the copyright law in support of library services for education, research and persons with disabilities, as well as ratification by Armenia of the Marrakesh Treaty for persons with print disabilities (Armenia acceded to the Marrakesh Treaty in 2022).

EIFL’s engagement  with public libraries in Armenia have resulted in innovative pilot projects that are helping libraries meet the information needs of their communities.
