Thirty Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) staff members (public librarians and administrators) will take part in a workshop on leadership and creative use of library spaces. The group includes 17 trainers selected from KNLS libraries who are taking part in an EIFL-KNLS initiative to strengthen continued professional development of public librarians in Kenya.
The leadership training will build the librarians' capacity to solve problems that may arise when they introduce new services in their libraries. The training will also develop their ability to innovate, to use library spaces in creative ways, and to take the lead in implementing action plans. Training will be conducted by EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme Capacity Building Manager Susan Schnuer, Ari Katz of IREX and three trainers from the KNLS network: Mary Kinyanjui of KNLS-Kibera Public Library, Miriam W. Mureithi of KNLS-Thika Public Library and Jacobed Masila from KNLS headquarters.
