Since 2011, 61 public library services have won EIFL Public Library Innovation Awards
THE CHALLENGE
Although they are under-resourced, public libraries in developing and transition economy countries are doing their best to meet community information needs. The EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) seeks to shine a spotlight on these libraries and show how - despite many challenges - they are using information and communication technology (ICT) in creative ways to improve lives.
WHAT WE DO
- We identify public library innovators through our regular EIFL Public Library Innovation Award calls.
- We publicize the awards widely to show how, through creative use of ICT, public libraries are improving lives in their communities.
The award is opening the eyes of government ministers and policy-makers to the role that public libraries can play in social inclusion of Roma and other communities in need.
