Twenty public librarians selected to be trainers within the Kenya National Library Service (KNLS) network will attend a two-day workshop on community needs assessment and library service performance and outcomes evaluation organized by the EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP).

The training is organized in collaboration with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and will be led by EIFL-PLIP Impact Manager Ugne Lipeikaite and IFLA Member Engagement Officer Kristine Paberza.

The training is part of an EIFL-KNLS initiative to strengthen continued professional development of public librarians in Kenya. The initiative develops librarians’ training skills and knowledge in specific subject areas, enabling them to train their colleagues in 61 public libraries in the KNLS network. Since March 2018, the 20 trainers have built skills to deliver training in leadership, design thinking and project management, mobile information literacy and creative use of library spaces.
