EIFL Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) Manager Ramune Petuchovaite and representatives of partner organizations will meet with public libraries and information technology sector specialists in Nairobi to discuss mobile information literacy (MIL) learning needs of communities in Kenya.

The meetings, organized by EIFL-PLIP, are part of a series of consultations that will lead to development of a MIL train-the-trainers curriculum for public librarians in Kenya. The training will enable public librarians to build community skills and confidence in using mobile devices to seek and use information.

EIFL-PLIP’s partners are University of Washington Technology & Social Change Group (TASCHA), Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) and the African Library and Information Associations & Institutions (AfLIA).

The Kenyan MIL curriculum will be incorporated into EIFL-PLIP’s capacity building programme for public librarians in Kenya. Training of KNLS public library staff on MIL is expected start in 2017.
