Diamond Open Access (OA) refers to a scholarly publication model in which journals and platforms do not charge fees to either authors or readers. In March 2022, Science Europe, cOAlition S, OPERAS, and the French National Research Agency (ANR) presented an Action Plan for Diamond OA to strengthen the Diamond Open Access ecosystem. The Action Plan has been endorsed by over 55 organizations, including EIFL, and many individuals
The Diamond Open Access Conference is the first event for the community of organizations and individuals that have endorsed the Action Plan for Diamond OA. The goal is to bring the community together to provide insights and inspiration, and to operationalize the Action Plan based on existing good practices, with a vision to develop common publishing services in future.
The Action Pan is still open for endorsement and organizations and individuals that wish to contribute to advancing open access publishing practices are welcome to join, and to attend the conference.
The conference will also introduce the Horizon Europe project, ‘Developing Institutional Open Access Publishing Models to Advance Scholarly Communication’ (DIAMAS, 2022–2025), in which EIFL is one of the partners. This project, to be launched on 1 September, aims to contribute to the development of a coherent, high-quality, and sustainable open access scholarly communication ecosystem.
