Thirty public librarians and public library directors will attend advanced e-resources skills training organized by EIFL and EIFL’s partner organizations in Kenya.

The training, which takes place in the University of Nairobi’s computer laboratory, aims to improve the ability of public librarians to use the internet to support community information needs, and to help community members to find relevant resources online. It follows a major capacity building programme for public librarians conducted by EIFL in Kenya in 2014/15 that built public librarians’ digital, project management and advocacy skills.

The advanced e-resources skills training helps prepare public libraries for the launch of 46 new e-resource centres that are currently being installed in public libraries across Kenya. The new e-resource centres, to be launched in June, will provide communities living in under-resourced rural areas and low-income families in urban areas with much-needed computer and internet access.

EIFL’s partners in the e-resources training are Kenya National Library Service and EIFL’s partner consortium, the Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium (KLISC).
