Rima Kupryte, EIFL Director, Iryna Kuchma, EIFL Open Access Programme Manager, and Emilija Banionyte, member of the EIFL Management Board, will attend the 14th Berlin Conference on open access to scientific research.
The conference will take the form of a strategic summit meeting, bringing together invited delegations of high-level stakeholders from research funding and research performing organizations from around the world.
The theme of the conference is ‘Aligning strategies to enable open access’. Discussion will centre on bringing about large-scale transition of scholarly journals to open access, as put forward by OA2020, a global alliance committed to accelerating the transition to open access.
The conference marks the anniversary of the first Berlin conference in 2003, which produced the historic Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. It is organized by the Max Planck Society, one of the leading research organizations in Germany and Europe.
